Q. When & where will RNWS III take place?

Q . What is Rawlings NorCal World Series?

A.  RNWS is an invitation only event each June featuring 192 of the region’s top players that recently finished their junior and sophomore years. The event provides each player the opportunity to display their physical abilities (tools) and ability to play the game in front of many D1 college coaches and MLB scouts, in game competition and in skills evaluations.

Q.  How did RNWS come about?

 A . A partnership between NorCal Baseball and the Bay Area World Series was formed in late 2007.  Essentially it was a merger of BAWS under the directorship of NorCal Baseball.

Q.  How does a player get selected to attend?

A.  The RNWS scouting staff selects most of the players based primarily on what they have seen the previous summer and fall on the summer tournament and showcase circuit. Players can also be nominated and the RNWS staff will follow up on each nominated player by conferring with a network of quality baseball people to determine the level of ability of each nominated player.

Q.  What are the benefits of attending Rawlings Norcal World Series?

A.  Nearly 100 RNWS participants have received an opportunity to play D1 baseball. Some players have been scholarship student-athletes right out of high school, while others have been recruited walk-ons.  In addition to all the D1 players, many other former RNWS participants have gone on to play college baseball at the D2, D3, and NAIA level while others have bypassed college and signed a professional contract out of high school.  Anywhere between 20-30 D1 coaches have attended the event each year, along with 10-15 MLB scouts. It is the first scheduled event on the West Coast summer tourney & showcase circuit and very popular with the D1 coaches.
